First KU Men's Game

Buddy got to go to his first KU Men's game on Kansas Day against K-State. What a day! He even got to slap the hands of several players and Danny Manning. He enjoyed it and sat still for most of the game. Thanks to Aunt Cleo for the tickets!

This is my favorite picture from the day! This glass is actually somewhat clear, but it makes for a great picture! Buddy was born right before KU won the title 3 years ago, when Mario made this incredible shot. It is something we will always think is neat because he went to downtown Lawrence after KU beat North Carolina in the Final Four, and he went after KU won the national title!! People thought we were crazy, but we knew it was special because he was only 6 weeks old. It is a story he will get to grow up and tell everyone! Plus, I was on maternity leave and got to enjoy all of it!!

We also got to see this guy, Wayne Simien, get his jersey retired.

The best part is KU beat the heck out of K-State. We beat them so bad that Wally Judge decided to quit the team today. That team is a wreck and full of a bunch of babies! I don't like Frank Martin either!!

Gigi's Favorite Bird

Across the white winter wonderland of our back yard, I could see this bird flying toward the house from a long way away! It is Gigi's favorite bird, a cardinal. I got some good pictures of it outside the window. He was poking around in the dog pen looking for food.

More Snow & More Sledding

So, we had another round of snow last night. I think we got another 8 or 9 inches! They are calling for more snow on Saturday night, possibly another 5 inches. Back in December, we were thinking this would be a dry winter!! Here is a video of Buddy sledding today.

Let it snow...

Let it snow, let it snow. They say that you get to re-live your childhood when you have kids. Boy, that is so true. Buddy and I had fun in the snow today. I showed him how to make snow angels (which I hesitated on because I did not have waterproof pants on). It's funny how you have so many reservations as an adult, but as a kid, you just did whatever. I figured I would dry off eventually, so I went for it. Buddy made several snow angels, and he was wearing proper snow gear (thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Miller).

He kept wanting to make a snowman, but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I am just challenged, but it seemed like the snow was too fluffy. It just fell apart when you tried to make a ball.

Here is our four-legged snow buddy, Abbie. She enjoys eating the snow and Buddy enjoyed throwing snow at her.

Here we are before our first trip down the hill in the sled. Buddy did not want to sled at first, but he changed his mind after watching me a few times. Before we came in, he was sledding down the hill by himself.

Ahh, the best part of going out to play in the snow is coming in afterward for hot chocolate. I'm not sure that last sentence made any sense. On the way in, he said, "Mom, I'm tired. It's hard to walk." I guess he is right. It was hard for me to walk and I'm not 3 feet tall. You go out and try to walk in snow that is up to your knees!!

***And the snow continues to fall. I keep checking the radar thinking the line of snow will move through, but snow continues to build behind it. We might have a foot before it ends tomorrow morning. Tonight, the wind is supposed to blow, so that means lots of drifting for those of us living in the middle of nowhere.

Birthday Plans

Since Buddy really likes the Jayhawks, and we were looking for a fun party idea... We decided to have his 3rd birthday party at a KU women's game in February. This picture is taken at a women's game in November. KU Athletics actually does birthday parties at the fieldhouse with tickets, pizza, cake, and drinks. Last year, we did a swimming party but the snow almost caused us to cancel. Let's hope the weather cooperates this year.

However, let's hope is snows like crazy the next few days, so Mommy can get some snow days off of school!!
